Remove the wire bands and yank the CV joints off of the axle (a heavy slide hammer is helpful).
The joints are held onto the axle with circlips (they look like the circlips holding the piston on the upper connecting rod).
When the joints are pulled, the circlips contract allowing the joints to slide off the axle.
A special tool is required to install the new wire bands.
