How do you change a half shaft or cv joint??

on a 99 cougar?? i have the knuckle off, and i can't seem to get the joint out where it connects to the tranny, should i spray wd-40 on it and try banging it out, or is there some sort of pin or something, nothing that i can see!!How do you change a half shaft or cv joint??
Absent the slide hammer, use two lage screwdrivers on either side of the tulip joint and you should be able to lever it out. use caution not to damage the transmission case, and be sur the car is SECURELY on stands, and blocked. How do you change a half shaft or cv joint??
You will need a forked slide hammer to pull the shaft out, there is a retaining ring on the inside of the shaft that snaps into the differential to keep it from coming out when turning. How do you change a half shaft or cv joint??
once you get the spindle nut off, you have to disconect the the tie rod from the hub, then hammer the axel through the hub, then get a crow bar and place it between the axel and tranny and work it! it helps to have the tranny in N so be careful and gl.
