How long does it take to change a front drivers side cv-joint on a 1998 ford explorer?

well if you only have a jack and jack stands you can still do it in under a hour. i don't have a lift just a jack and stands, I just did a front cv axle for someone in 40 minutes. How long does it take to change a front drivers side cv-joint on a 1998 ford explorer?
depends entirely on how skilled the worker is and what level of tools they have access to. Me with air tools and my toolbox 45 min about on a lift.

amature: as much as half a day if they have very few tools or cheap tool quality. How long does it take to change a front drivers side cv-joint on a 1998 ford explorer?
If you have a good manual, and reasonable mechanical ability, maybe 2 hours. Pull the tire, pull the brake caliper, pull the rotor, pull out the shaft. Just make sure that when u put in the new shaft it's fully seated, some light taps may be needed. If so, make sure you put a piece of wood on the end of it before you start tapping on it as you will damage the splines..
